Yes, like nearly all of Korman's YA reads, Who Is Bugs Potter? is completely implausible. Who is Bugs Potter? He's the reason you should read this hilarious story. It doesn't take long before Bugs's and the thieves' obsession run headlong into one another, giving Adam one more thing to agonize about. Two jewel thieves with their eyes on the monsterously extravagant, ostentatious (and expensive) necklace which has been Bibi's calling card for years, are likewise willing to do anything to get into Lanay's hotel room in the hopes of stealing the jewels. To make matters worse, Bugs isn't the only one who's taken notice of Lanay's presence. Bugs, naturally, is determined to meet her no matter how outlandish the scheme he has to concoct to make it happen. But keeping close to Bugs is a 24/7 job, and it only gets harder when Bugs learns his favorite movie star in the world, Bibi Lanay, is in Toronto to promote her newest picture, and she's staying in the same hotel they are. Realizing Bugs has no respect for authority or rules, and that he's going to get in trouble either way, Adam relinquishes any thought of a somber, relaxing, restful visit to Toronto and resigns himself to minimizing the damage Potter can do.

Only problem: the clubs where they play only open after it's light's out in the young adult wing of the hotel where the band is staying, and the band leader has a rule to keep the kids in check: if your room mate gets in trouble, you share the punishment. When he finds out his favorite bands are in town performing, he realizes he has to go see them. Bugs lives and breathes for music, but not the stuffy, stodgy world of the orchestra-he desires the glitz, glamour, and noise of the rock stage. What he thought would be a nice, quiet, low-key visit to Toronto to play flute in the youth orchestra instead turns into an unending deluge of chaos when his room mate winds up being an drum-obsessed being of pure chaos named David 'Bugs' Potter.
